Frequently Asked Questions
1. What are the school hours?
8:05 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. for 1st – 8th
8:05 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for kindergarten
2. How much does it cost to go to CCA?
Our passion is to keep Coastline affordable. See the tuition page for the current rates. Additional children receive 25% off. Financial aid is available if forms are filled out and turned in by May 1st for the upcoming year.
3. What are service hours and why are they required?
In order to keep our costs down, each family is required to serve 6 hours per month for one child, 8 hours per month for 2 children, and 10 hours per month for three or more children. Examples of service hours include assisting in the classroom or playground; working on facilities projects around the school; assisting with art, music, P.E., or computer; driving on or planning field trips; and coordinating events. Parents are expected to write their completed hours in the service hour book on the front desk.
4. What calendar do you follow?
Our calendar closely follows the calendars used in the Goleta and Santa Barbara public schools. For specific dates, see the calendar page.
5. What fundraisers do you do?
We try to keep a balance between too few and too many fundraisers. Our two big fundraisers of the year are the Founders’ Day Barbecue and Auction in September, and our Read-a-thon in February and March. The Founders’ Day also functions as a fun get-together for all of our families. Smaller fundraisers include selling the AXXESS books, Christian calendars, and See’s candies. Students are not required to participate in any specific fundraiser.
Since fundraisers help subsidize tuition costs, individual classes do not raise funds for individual class events. The only exception is for junior high missions trips.
6. What do I do if my child is sick? Tardy?
If a student has had a fever of 100 degrees or more or vomited in the past 24 hours, you are asked to keep your child home. Call the office before 8:30 and explain that your child is sick. If someone can come to school after dismissal, please ask for a packet of school work to be prepared for the student.
We ask that all students arrive by 8:00. If your student is tardy three times in one quarter, subsequent tardies during that quarter will be charged.
7. Can I bring siblings to chapel?
At Coastline, we have chapel every day at 8:10 a.m. We love for parents and siblings to join us! Chapel includes a time of worship and praise and a 10-minute lesson.
9. Why do you do standardized testing?
In order to have a gauge for parents to know if the academics are strong at Coastline, we do standardized testing each spring. These are called the Terra Nova tests. Our results demonstrate that the students at Coastline are doing very well academically.
